The National Agricultural Workers Survey (NAWS) is a nationally representative survey conducted by the U.S. Department of Labor that collects detailed information on the demographics, employment, and health characteristics of U.S. crop workers. Notably, the survey excludes H-2A workers, who are temporary nonimmigrant workers admitted to perform seasonal agricultural work. The exclusion of H-2A workers allows the survey to focus on the domestic agricultural labor force, providing insights into the workforce that is not part of the H-2A program. The data collected from NAWS is used to inform policy decisions and understand the composition and conditions of the U.S. farm labor market.
